The medallions on the reverse of the cross evoke the triumph of Christ at the end of time and the redemptive significance of his sacrifice. The enthroned Christ is framed by two angels at the upper crosspiece, above the lamb symbolizing the universal salvation made possible by his Passion and his death on the cross. These four central figures forming a T are surrounded by the Tetramorph, the symbols of the evangelists, the eagle of John, the lion of Mark, the bull of Luke and the angel of Matthew. The whole recalls a vision described by Saint John in the Apocalypse.
